Selective hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde with NixFe1-xAl2O4+δ composite oxides supported Pt catalysts: C=O versus C=C selectivity switch by varying the Ni/Fe molar ratios

Huiyue Xin et al.

Summary: The study developed NixFe1-xAl2O4+delta spinel composite metal oxides (SCMOs) supported Pt catalysts, which showed activity and selectivity for the selective hydrogenation of CAL. The selectivity switch can be achieved by changing the Ni/(Fe + Ni) molar ratios in NixFe1-xAl2O4+delta SCMOs.

Functional group hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde to hydrocinnamyl alcohol over nickel-ruthenium containing hydrotalcite

A. Sreenavya et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the complete functional group hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde to hydrocinnamyl alcohol using a bimetallic nickel/ruthenium catalyst on magnesium aluminium hydrotalcite. The synergistic effect of the bimetallic catalyst and the basicity of the hydrotalcite material contribute to the high catalytic activity observed, even after several consecutive runs.

Ultralow non-noble metal loaded MOF derived bi-functional electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution and reduction reactions†

Debabrata Bagchi et al.

Summary: The research strategically employed two isophthalate-based ligands to tune the molecular structure and chemical bonding of three Co-based MOFs at the atomic level. The assembly of Co in these novel MOFs at the atomic level dictates the catalytic activity towards the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The catalytic activity of these MOFs has been further boosted upon annealing, forming highly efficient noble-metal-free Co-single atom catalysts with extremely low cobalt content.
