Predicting the temperature dependence of self-diffusion behavior in Ni-Cr alloys via molecular dynamics

Pauline Simonnin et al.

Summary: The study presents a robust model describing self-diffusion at high temperatures in Ni-xCr alloys. By using a vacancy concentration rescaling factor, diffusion coefficients in alloys with varying Cr concentrations can be properly estimated. The model reaches its upper limit at Ni-20Cr and efforts are needed in further simulations of more complex systems.

The role of grain boundary character in solute segregation and thermal stability of nanocrystalline Pt-Au

Christopher M. Barr et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of grain boundary character on segregation behavior and thermal stability in nanocrystalline metals, specifically a model NC Pt-Au alloy. Through a combination of high resolution microscopy techniques, atomistic simulations, and theoretical analysis, the research highlights the important role of grain boundary character in solute segregation behavior and offers future avenues for developing customized microstructures in nanoparticle metallic alloys using grain boundary segregation as a microstructure design strategy.
