3D Printing of Cellulose Nanocrystal-Loaded Hydrogels through Rapid Fixation by Photopolymerization

Doron Kam et al.

Summary: The new ink compositions for DIW printing of hydrogels exhibit superior rheological properties and enable rapid fixation through photopolymerization, allowing the fabrication of objects with high aspect ratios. The cellulose nanocrystals contribute to unique rheological behavior without compromising printability, and the compositions can be cured by low photoinitiator concentrations in a short build time, maintaining viability in bioinks.

Review: 3D printing hydrogels for the fabrication of soilless cultivation substrates

Livia M. Kalossaka et al.

Summary: The use of hydrogels in academic research is growing rapidly and becoming more relevant to real-life applications, especially in the field of soilless cultivation substrates. Additive Manufacturing (AM) has enabled the manufacturing of hydrogel structures with customized properties, paving the way for new functionalities and applications. The challenges and future prospects of printing soilless cultivation substrates are being explored, with a focus on features similar to soil achieved through the fabrication process.
