The direct evidence for ESPT route and ICT emission of N6-Methyladenine in aqueous solution

Yunfan Yang et al.

Summary: This study theoretically analyzed the effect of water molecules on the excited-state proton transfer process of 6MeAde, revealing that excited-state hydrogen bonding dynamics can occur in different scenarios. The results indicated that proton transfer can spontaneously occur for 6MeAde+2H2O due to the coplanar closed-loop hydrogen bond structure.

Photophysical properties of fluorescent nucleobase P-analogues expected to monitor DNA replication

Yu Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of fluorescent purine analogues based on P were designed to monitor DNA replication process with minimal perturbation to the natural structure of nucleic acid. The P-modified fluorescent probes exhibited red-shifted absorption spectra and enhanced photoluminescence, and efficient fluorescence quenching occurred when paired with Z. The P3 and P7 were proposed as sensors for conformational switching in the presence and absence of a complementary sequence.
