Manipulation of upconversion property and enhancement of sensitivity by tailoring the local structure

Fengqin Lai et al.

Summary: Substitution of Y(3+) lattice with La(3+) ions enhances the upconversion luminescence intensity and temperature sensing sensitivity in Y2Ti2O7:Yb3+, Er(3+) phosphor. The presence of La(3+) ions aids in adjusting particle size and morphology and promoting crystal growth towards easy growth directions. By controlling the concentration of La(3+), the maximum sensitivity and corresponding temperature for temperature sensing can be adjusted.

Single phase multi color emitting Ca2LuTaO6: Dy3+/Eu3+ double perovskite oxide phosphors

Noor Zamin Khan et al.

Summary: Trivalent rare-earth (RE3+) doped phosphors have achieved great success in narrow band multicolor line emission and can be used for various applications. This study synthesized Ca2LuTaO6 double perovskite phosphors using a high-temperature solid-state reaction method, and found that they exhibit broad blue emission under UV light excitation. It was discovered that these ions can be excited via energy transfer phenomenon, showing potential for a wide range of applications.

Persistent luminescence nanoparticles for cancer theranostics application

Nian Liu et al.

Summary: PLNPs are unique optical materials that emit afterglow luminescence after ceasing excitation, making them ideal for in vivo optical imaging of tumors. They have advantages such as autofluorescence-free, high sensitivity, high penetration depth, and multiple excitation sources. Furthermore, they are widely used in cancer theranostics applications, including fluorescence-guided surgery, photothermal therapy, photodynamic therapy, drug/gene delivery, and combined therapy.
