Analytical Modeling of Nonlinear Fiber Propagation for Four Dimensional Symmetric Constellations

Summary: In this paper, an analytical model is derived to quantify the impact of Kerr nonlinearity on four dimensional signal spaces, taking into account the interpolarization dependency. The proposed model shows discrepancies in nonlinear interference estimation compared to the EGN model for 4D formats. Validation of the derived model through simulations demonstrates close agreement with the proposed analytical approach.
