New perspectives on the bioremediation of endocrine disrupting compounds from wastewater using algae-, bacteria- and fungi-based technologies

S. Roccuzzo et al.

Summary: The study provides a quantitative review of using microbial communities, microalgae, or fungi to enhance wastewater treatment plant performance for EDC remediation. Results show that exposure time, organism class, EDC complexity, delivery mechanism, and EDC class all have significant impacts on biodegradation, while the initial EDC concentration does not affect the outcomes.

Biosorption of iron ions through microalgae from wastewater and soil: Optimization and comparative study

Shah Zada et al.

Summary: Microalgae were evaluated for their ability to remove Fe2+ iron ions from aqueous solutions, with five strains showing promising results in terms of bioremediation efficiency for both wastewater and soil. This study suggests that these selected microalgae strains have high potential as bioremediation tools for Fe2+ contaminated water and soil.
