Preparation and properties of self-healing anticorrosive coating on methyl cellulose core-shell fibers

Xiaohong Ji et al.

Summary: This work presents a core-shell fiber coating with self-healing and anticorrosive properties, combining fibers with a silicone coating material for corrosion protection of carbon steels. Through electrostatic spinning, oleic acid was encapsulated into the methyl cellulose shell material, leading to an excellent self-healing performance in a 3.5wt% NaCl solution with pH 11.7. The formation of an oleic acid protective film in the damaged area has significant reference value for the development of new self-healing materials in marine corrosion protection.
