COVID-19 in Health-Care Workers: A Living Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Prevalence, Risk Factors, Clinical Characteristics, and Outcomes

Summary: Health-care workers have an 11% prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection, with nurses being the most affected personnel, mainly working in hospital nonemergency wards. 40% of HCWs infected with COVID-19 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, while 5% developed severe complications and 0.5% died.

Occupation and risk of severe COVID-19: prospective cohort study of 120 075 UK Biobank participants

Summary: The study revealed that healthcare workers, social and education workers, and other essential workers were at a higher risk of severe COVID-19 compared to non-essential workers. Within different occupational groups, medical support staff, social care workers, and transport workers had the highest risk. Non-white essential workers had the highest risk of severe COVID-19.
