Using ascorbic acid as a catalyst under solvent-free conditions, a new method for the synthesis of amidoalkyl beta-naphthol and amidoalkyl naphthoquinones has been presented. This method offers advantages such as short reaction time, high yield of product, easy workup, and low cost of catalyst. All products were obtained in high to excellent yields and characterized by (HNMR)-H-1, (CNMR)-C-13, and FT-IR methods.
Amidoalkyl derivatives are significant compounds due to their application in the preparation of potent drugs and important biological compounds. In this context, we presented a new method for the synthesis of amido alkyl beta-naphthol and amidoalky naphthoquinones using ascorbic acid (vitamin C) as a natural and water-soluble catalyst under solvent-free conditions. Short reaction time, high yield of product, easy workup and low cost of catalyst are some of the advantages of this method. All the products were obtained in high to excellent yields and characterized by (HNMR)-H-1, (CNMR)-C-13, and FT-IR methods.
