Porous γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticle decorated with atomically dispersed platinum: Study on atomic site structural change and gas sensor activity evolution

Qiheng Li et al.

Summary: Decorating semi-conducting metal oxide with noble metal single atom sites has been proven to be an effective way to improve the sensitivity and selectivity of gas sensors. The atomically dispersed platinum on one-dimensional arranged porous gamma-Fe2O3 nanoparticle composites showed high response and good selectivity to ethanol gas, indicating the potential for ISAS-enhanced gas sensors for other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This work highlights the importance of noble metal single atom sites in enhancing the performance of metal oxide gas sensors.

Boosting total oxidation of propane over CeO2@Co3O4 nanofiber catalysts prepared by multifluidic coaxial electrospinning with continuous grain boundary and fast lattice oxygen mobility

Xiaoshan Feng et al.

Summary: The CeO2@Co3O4 nanofiber catalyst, prepared by multifluidic coaxial electrospinning method, shows excellent oxidation activity for total propane oxidation. The core-shell structure of CeO2@Co3O4 allows for rapid reaction with propane on the surface of Co3O4 while benefiting from high oxygen storage capacity of CeO2. Additionally, the catalyst displays good thermal stability and resistance to water and CO2, making it a promising candidate for catalytic oxidation of VOCs.

Simple strategy for the construction of oxygen vacancies on α-MnO2 catalyst to improve toluene catalytic oxidation

Lingzhu Chen et al.

Summary: A strategy for large-scale production of high-activity alpha-MnO2 catalysts in VOCs oxidation is crucial. By adjusting the precipitation temperature, construction of oxygen vacancies on alpha-MnO2 has been achieved, improving its catalytic activity. The best catalyst, alpha-MnO2-60, showed significantly improved activity despite its lower specific surface area, highlighting the importance of surface oxygen vacancies in catalytic activity. This work offers insights for rational design of efficient VOCs catalysts.
