Flocculation of emulsified oily wastewater by using functional grafting modified chitosan: The effect of cationic and hydrophobic structure

Jiangya Ma et al.

Summary: The modified chitosan flocculants (MCS) synthesized in this study exhibited excellent oil removal efficiency in emulsified oily wastewater treatment over a wide pH range. The cationic and hydrophobic structure of MCS, as well as the use of specific monomers, were found to play key roles in enhancing the oil removal performance. The synthesized MCS showed promising potential for efficient treatment of emulsified oily wastewater.

Adsorption behavior of heavy metal ions on a polymer-immobilized amphoteric biosorbent: Surface interaction assessment

Chaofan Zheng et al.

Summary: The study introduced a novel magnetically separable amphoteric biosorbent (PD-Fe3O4@CCS) and evaluated its adsorption behavior towards Cr(VI) and Cu(II) ions. Results showed that the biosorbent exhibited promising potential for large-scale application, with good reusability and stability. Surface interactions between PD-Fe3O4@CCS and heavy metal ions were systematically analyzed through FTIR and XPS, providing valuable insights for understanding biosorbent-contaminant interactions in wastewater.

Role of surfactants in cleaning of PVDF ultrafiltration membranes fouled by emulsified cutting oil

Tamilarasan Palanisamy et al.

Summary: Chemical cleaning was conducted on PVDF hollow fiber UF membranes irreversibly fouled by cutting fluid using anionic, cationic and non-ionic surfactants. The study found that anionic surfactants showed better cleaning efficiency, while residual substances were observed on the membrane surfaces after cleaning with cationic and non-ionic surfactants.
