Is Digital Twin Technology Supporting Safety Management? A Bibliometric and Systematic Review

Giulio Paolo Agnusdei et al.

Summary: In the Industry 4.0 era, the application of Digital Twin (DT) technology, which integrates traditional tools such as simulation modeling and sensors, poses a challenge to companies aiming to improve process performance in production and manufacturing activities. The increasing use of DT within manufacturing activities has led to its application in different areas, including supporting safety management processes by enhancing operators' abilities to control safety levels during normal and emergency conditions. Recent studies have shown the development and testing of DT applications to support safety management processes, highlighting potential benefits for operators in controlling safety levels.
