Moisture re-adsorption characteristics of hydrochar generated from the Co-hydrothermal carbonization of PVC and alkali coal

Peitao Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the moisture re-adsorption characteristics of hydrochar obtained under various co-HTC operating conditions, finding that temperature and humidity significantly affected the water re-adsorption capacity of hydrochar. The addition of PVC could effectively inhibit the moisture re-adsorption behavior of hydrochar, resulting in a more hydrophobic product. The suitable temperature for obtaining hydrophobic hydrochar through co-HTC was determined to be 300 degrees C due to lower equilibrium moisture content and adsorption heat.

Coffee by-products derived resources. A review

Marziyeh Hoseini et al.

Summary: Coffee husk, the main by-product of coffee processing, is mainly used for animal feeding or energy production. Most of the coffee husk is disposed without care, becoming a source of pollution, especially in developing countries. It is important to find environmentally friendly methods to recycle coffee husk due to its rich nutrients and organic matter content.

Coffee by-products in topical formulations: A review

Erica Mendes dos Santos et al.

Summary: Coffee by-products have various biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-aging, anti-cancer, anti-cellulite, and sunscreen properties. They are considered a good alternative for topical pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations due to their numerous activities, low cost, sustainability, safety, and effectiveness. However, more research is needed on their other biological activities beyond just their antioxidant properties.

Retrieve of residual waste of carbon dots derived from straw mushroom as a hydrochar for the removal of organic dyes from aqueous solutions

Muhammad Zulfajri et al.

Summary: The simultaneous production of carbon dots and hydrochar from straw mushroom through hydrothermal carbonization treatment increases the utility of sustainable resources. The hydrochar, retrieved as residual waste, showed excellent removal efficiencies for organic dyes, demonstrating the potential to overcome environmental pollution issues.
