Nitrogen budget at sediment-water interface altered by sediment dredging and settling particles: Benefits and drawbacks in managing eutrophication

Jicheng Zhong et al.

Summary: Sediment dredging can effectively reduce organic matter and total nitrogen in sediments, improve the redox environment at the sediment-water interface, and slow down nitrogen cycle processes. However, the input of settling particles enriched in fresh organic matter and nitrogen can accelerate the recovery of nitrogen cycle processes and reduce variation in the nitrogen budget after dredging.

A MATHEMATICAL MODEL TO RESTORE WATER QUALITY IN URBAN LAKES USING PHOSLOCK

Pankaj Kumar Tiwari et al.

Summary: Urban lakes are crucial for city residents, and removing phosphorus is key to improving water quality. Phoslock has been shown to significantly reduce phosphorus concentration and algae density, playing a vital role in restoring urban lake water quality.
