Anisotropic stellar structures in the f(T) theory of gravity with quintessence via embedding approach

Allah Ditta et al.

Summary: This study investigates anisotropic compact stars with quintessence in f(T) gravity using a new model, specific field equations, and analyzes the structures of observed stars, suggesting they are stable and independent of central singularities. Comprehensive graphical analysis shows crucial physical features for the emergence of stellar structures.

General teleparallel modifications of Schwarzschild geometry

Sebastian Bahamonde et al.

Summary: Teleparallel theories of gravity are extended to study spherical symmetry based on arbitrary functions of five possible scalars constructed from torsion, which is a generalization of the New General Relativity theory. The study found that only two scalars are non-zero in spherical symmetry and successfully solved the corresponding field equations analytically, as well as computed phenomenological effects from the perturbed solutions. These effects include corrections to standard GR contribution and depend on three model parameters.

Data-driven reconstruction of the late-time cosmic acceleration with f (T) gravity

Xin Ren et al.

Summary: The study reconstructs the free function of f(T) gravity using a combination of observational data, finding that the obtained function is consistent with the standard ΛCDM cosmology within 1σ confidence level but exhibits oscillatory features. Parametrizing it with a sinusoidal function with only one extra parameter, the study proposes a small oscillatory deviation close to the best-fit curve and within the 1σ reconstructed region.

Static Spherically Symmetric Black Holes in Weak f(T)-Gravity

Christian Pfeifer et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the influence of weak teleparallel perturbations on general relativistic vacuum spacetime geometries and finds solutions describing teleparallel black hole candidates. The results show that among these solutions, there exist spacetime geometries that lead to much weaker constraints on teleparallel gravity. The future research may provide important evidence for modifications of general relativity.

Issues of Lorentz-invariance in f(T) gravity and calculations for spherically symmetric solutions

Alexey Golovnev

Summary: f(T) gravity is widely used in cosmological model building and constructing spherically symmetric solutions. It violates local Lorentz symmetry in its classical pure tetrad formulation, but can be brought to a formally Lorentz invariant shape. Despite some mathematical elegance and new options for non-standard couplings to matter, it remains fully equivalent to the initial formulation.

On conserved quantities for the Schwarzschild black hole in teleparallel gravity

E. D. Emtsova et al.

Summary: This study examines various methods of constructing conserved quantities in the Teleparallel Equivalent of General Relativity (TEGR), with a focus on Noether charges in the covariant formulation. The physical implications of choosing the observer's four-velocity or a Killing vector as 4 in different frames, based on the example of the Schwarzschild solution, are discussed. Additionally, an analysis of determining inertial spin connections for different tetrads used in calculations is presented, revealing some ambiguity in the method of switching-off gravity.

Toward a concordance teleparallel cosmology. Part I. Background dynamics

Mahmoud Hashim et al.

Summary: The study investigates the cosmological viability of an infrared corrected teleparallel gravity model assuming a spatially flat universe. It shows that despite being physically different, the model is equivalent to ΛCDM in terms of phenomenology and statistics, while being more adept at accurately fitting observational constraints and reducing the H-0 tension without worsening the S-8 tension. This calls for a full examination of the empirical viability of the theory at the linear perturbation level.

Modified gravity: A unified approach

Christian G. Boehmer et al.

Summary: By proposing a new setup based on the original Einstein action, we can formulate modified gravity theories with second or fourth order field equations. Our theory is equivalent to the f(Q) gravity models, as well as capable of reproducing f(R) and f(T) gravity. Different from these theories, our approach emphasizes the importance of boundary terms in establishing the equivalence between them.
