Temperature-dependent wetting characteristics of micro-nano-structured metal surface formed by femtosecond laser

Ziyuan Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the temperature-dependent surface wettability of different micro-nano-structured surfaces, finding that the contact angle decreases on hydrophilic surfaces as temperature drops, but increases on typical microscale surfaces as they cool. Some microscale samples exhibit weaker temperature dependence due to strong capillary effects in specific microscale structures. Additionally, hydrophobic micro-nano-structured surfaces consistently show decreased hydrophobicity with decreasing temperature, providing new insights for the engineering design and manufacture of wetting function in varied temperature surroundings.
