Minireview: Insights into anti-interferon-γ autoantibodies

Kriangkrai Chawansuntati et al.

Summary: The association between the presence of anti-interferon-gamma autoantibodies and the onset of immunodeficiency with intracellular infections has been clearly established. The lack of standard regimen to control the production of these pathogenic autoantibodies, apart from antimicrobial therapy, poses a medical burden and sometimes leads to fatal outcomes. Summarizing findings on anti-interferon-gamma autoantibodies is crucial for further research and treatment guidance.

Anti-interferon-γ autoantibody-associated immunodeficiency

Han-Po Shih et al.

Summary: Anticytokine autoantibodies, such as anti-interferon (IFN)-gamma autoantibodies, are emerging as a disease etiology associated with specific HLA class II molecules. They may predispose individuals to severe mycobacterial infections as well as bacterial and fungal infections. Over 600 cases have been reported, mostly from Southeast Asia.

Thymus Degeneration and Regeneration

Maxwell Duah et al.

Summary: The thymus plays a critical role in generating diverse T cell receptors and monitoring malignancies, but thymic cells are fragile and sensitive to external insults. Thymic dysfunction can lead to increased risks of infections, tumor relapse, and autoimmune diseases.
