ZiF-8-derived P, N-co-doped hierarchical carbon: synergistic and high-efficiency desulfurization adsorbents

Ping Lu et al.

Summary: A metal-free 3D porous carbon co-doped with P and N heteroatoms was prepared and utilized in adsorptive desulfurization, showing remarkable adsorption capacity and reusability for dibenzothiophene (DBT). The incorporation of P and N heteroatoms enhanced the interaction between the carbon and DBT, making the P-NPC-1000 highly promising for adsorptive desulfurization.

Hierarchical-pore UiO-66 modified with Ag+ for π-complexation adsorption desulfurization

Peng Zhang et al.

Summary: Adsorption desulfurization using metal-organic frameworks such as UiO-66 has shown promising results in the removal of thiophenic compounds from fuels. A novel hierarchical-pore UiO-66 with increased specific surface area and porosity was developed for enhanced adsorption of larger adsorbates. The Ag+-exchanged hierarchical-pore UiO-66 exhibited high adsorption capacity for thiophene and benzothiophene, as well as the ability to maintain adsorptive performance in the presence of toluene, with good regeneration potential.

Deep Desulfurization with Record SO2 Adsorption on the Metal-Organic Frameworks

Fuqiang Chen et al.

Summary: This study reported a family of MOFs with abundant hydrogen bond donors that showed high selectivity for capturing sulfur dioxide in flue gas desulfurization and natural gas purification, along with excellent cycling stability. Multiple hydrogen bonding interactions ensured a firm grasp of SO2 molecules within the framework, leading to high uptake and density. The MOFs exhibited ultrahigh adsorption uptake and selectivity, as well as robust cycling stability even after multiple cycles.

The fate of sulfonamides in the process of phytoremediation in hydroponics

Jun Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the possibility and mechanism of phytoremediation of ten sulfonamides by different wetland plants through hydroponics. The findings suggest that rhizosphere biodegradation dominates the phytoremediation process, with plant uptake and hydrolysis playing a smaller role. Selective uptake of sulfonamides by plants in the presence of multiple sulfonamides was observed.

Phytocat - a bio-derived Ni catalyst for rapid de-polymerization of polystyrene using a synergistic approach

Parul Johar et al.

Summary: A novel triple-green approach utilizing microwave irradiation for the de-polymerization of polystyrene and valorization of nickel-contaminated plant biomass is proposed in this study. The presence of bio-derived nickel in the biomass significantly enhances the de-polymerization process, leading to higher conversion efficiencies compared to traditional methods.

Removal of malachite green dye from aqueous solution by adsorbents derived from polyurethane plastic waste

Zhuo Li et al.

Summary: Upcycling PUPW into AC for MG removal in wastewater is cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Different preparation procedures lead to varied properties of PUPW-AC, with intentional modulation possible. PUPW-AC-C-A shows excellent adsorption performance for MG due to electrostatic attraction, oxygen-containing groups, and pi-pi interaction.
