Biofilm for leaching precious metals from waste printed circuit boards using biocyanidation technology

Jian Hu et al.

Summary: The main aim of this study was to investigate the biofilm formation of Pseudomonas and its ability to leach precious metals, with strain 113 showing the highest biofilm-forming activity in optimal culture conditions. Low concentrations of Cu2+ and Ag+ promoted biofilm formation, and under the optimal conditions, the concentration of CN reached up to 5.0 ppm. Additionally, in continuous silver leaching experiments, the Ag+ concentration reached 4.0 ppm with a leaching efficiency of 14.7% at 7 days.

Hydrothermal Leaching Behavior of Manganese from Waste Zn-Mn Dry Batteries

Lu Zhan et al.

Summary: In this study, phosphoric acid and hydrogen peroxide systems were used to recover manganese from the positive electrode material of zinc-manganese dry batteries. The optimized conditions for leaching reaction were found to be 225 degrees C temperature, 2.28 mol/L phosphoric acid concentration, 80.9 min reaction time, 30.4 g/L solid to liquid ratio, and 3 vol % hydrogen peroxide, resulting in an average leaching efficiency of 97.3% for manganese. The activation energy of the leaching reaction was determined to be 17.04 kJ/mol.
