Highly Active and Stable Palladium Catalysts on Novel Ceria-Alumina Supports for Efficient Oxidation of Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbons

Shaohua Xie et al.

Summary: A novel two-step wetness impregnation method was developed to fabricate a unique and highly stable CeO2/Al2O3 support, enabling Pd catalysts anchored on this support to exhibit higher activity and thermal stability in CO and hydrocarbon oxidations. This approach can be applied as a universal method to prepare stable metal oxide-alumina-based supports, with broad applications in environmental catalyst design.

Influence of lattice oxygen on the catalytic activity of blue titania supported Pt catalyst for CO oxidation

Hanseul Choi et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the catalyst with Pt deposited on blue TiO2 exhibits 8.8 times higher catalytic activity than that on TiO2 for CO oxidation. The formation of oxygen vacancies on blue TiO2 promotes electron generation, leading to weakened CO binding strength. The facile reducibility of surface lattice oxygen on blue TiO2 is identified as the reason behind its high CO oxidation activity.

Summary: By modifying the synthesis procedure, a highly thermostable Pt catalyst was prepared in this study, showing different aging behavior during hydrothermal aging process where Pt species redisperse from Al2O3 to CeO2, enhancing the metal-support interaction between Pt and CeO2.
