θ-Fe3C dominated Fe@C core-shell catalysts for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis: Roles of θ-Fe3C and carbon shell

Caiping Ma et al.

Summary: By modulating pyrolysis temperature, catalysts with different carbon shells (amorphous carbon, graphene or graphite shells) coated theta-Fe3C and/or alpha-Fe nanoparticles are acquired. It is found that O-Fe3C is confirmed to be FTS active with superior CAC chain growth ability, showing higher C5+ selectivity and lower CH4 selectivity. Meanwhile, graphene shell inhibits iron nanoparticles aggregation and stabilizes the catalysts.

Combined HR TEM and STEM-EDX evaluation - The key to better understanding of the Co-Mo sulfide active phase in real-life Co-Mo-P/Al2O3 catalysts

S. Eijsbouts et al.

Summary: The morphology, dispersion, and segregation of MoS2 in Co-Mo/Al2O3 catalysts vary depending on the metal content, with real-life catalysts being more complex and heterogeneous compared to model catalysts. The balance between active phase characteristics and sites differs between the two types of catalysts, resulting in different catalytic activities and selectivities.

Sodium-Mediated Bimetallic Fe-Ni Catalyst Boosts Stable and Selective Production of Light Aromatics over HZSM-5 Zeolite

Ting Wang et al.

Summary: This study reports the use of Na-mediated bimetallic Fe-Ni catalyst simply mixed with HZSM-5 to enhance the stable and selective production of aromatics from syngas. The addition of Ni with Na substantially regulates iron carbide formation and suppresses carbon deposition, leading to increased selectivity to light alpha-olefins. The presence of Na weakens the Fe-Ni interaction, reduces electron transfer from Fe to Ni, and promotes the formation of lighter olefins, demonstrating the potential for developing stable and selective iron-based catalysts for the production of FT products.
