Comparative analysis of profitability and resource use efficiency between Penaeus monodon and Litopenaeus vannamei in India

Ubair Nisar et al.

Summary: The study conducted in intensified shrimp farms in Gujarat aimed to highlight the profitability and production function analysis of Penaeus monodon and Litopenaeus vannamei. The results showed that more intensively managed farms performed better than less intensive farms, with feed being the most significant input for production of both species. The average net returns per hectare per year were $16313.13 for Penaeus monodon and $41640.99 for Litopenaeus vannamei.

Effects of stocking densities and feeding rates on water quality, feed efficiency, and performance of white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in an integrated system with sea grape Caulerpa lentillifera

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh et al.

Summary: The integrated multi-trophic system of white leg shrimp and sea grape significantly improved water quality, shrimp survival, growth rate, and yield. Higher shrimp density resulted in lower growth performance but increased yield. Controlling the feeding rate at 75% in the integrated system was found to be the most effective, reducing feed cost and improving water quality.
