Optical temperature sensing properties of Tm3+/Yb3+ co-doped LuAG polycrystalline phosphor based on up-conversion luminescence

Huili Zhou et al.

Summary: A series of LuAG: 5 mol%Yb3+/x mol%Tm3+ poly-crystals were prepared and it was found that the optimal concentration of Tm3+ ions is around 0.3 mol%. The LuAG: 5 mol%Yb3+/0.3 mol%Tm3+ sample showed promising optical temperature sensing properties, with the highest absolute and relative sensitivities reaching 5.55 x 10(-3) K-1 at 1023 K and 7.17 x 10(-3) K-1 at 555 K, respectively.

Optimized growth of high length-to-diameter ratio Lu2O3 single crystal fibers by the LHPG method

Na Zhang et al.

Summary: Lu2O3 crystals have been grown into single crystal fibers with a length-to-diameter ratio of >200:1 using the laser-heated pedestal growth method. The relationships between crystal diameter and thermal stress were investigated, with the crystal cracking issue solved by reducing fiber diameter. The influence of growth atmosphere was also demonstrated, showing that crystals grown in a mixture of 95% O2 and 5% Ar were colorless and transparent, with high purity and quality measured along different directions.
