A Battery-Like Self-Selecting Biomemristor from Earth-Abundant Natural Biomaterials

Bai Sun et al.

Summary: The use of natural biomaterials for manufacturing functional electronic devices, such as memristors, meets the sustainable requirements of green electronics. However, the sneak currents in large-scale memristor arrays remains a major problem, which can be solved with self-selecting memristors. By utilizing anthocyanin extracted from plant tissue, the capacitive-coupled memristive behavior of bioelectronic devices can be modulated by ionic liquids, graphene insertion, and graphene protonation, leading to a self-selective battery-like memristive effect with potential applications in brain-inspired computing and data storage.
