Sintering- and oxidation-resistant ultrasmall Cu(I)/(II) oxides supported on defect-rich mesoporous alumina microspheres boosting catalytic ozonation

Hua Chen et al.

Summary: Novel copper oxide (CuOx) catalysts supported on defect-rich mesoporous alumina microspheres exhibited high stability, small size, tunable valency, and remarkable catalytic performance in catalyzing the ozonation of phenol wastewaters. The unique structure and defective nature of the catalysts along with the cooperative role of surface hydroxyl groups and Cu+/Cu-2(+) redox couples contribute to their superior catalytic activity. The study proposed a plausible mechanism for the catalytic O-3 decomposition in the presence of the CuOx catalysts.

Rational design of CuO/SiO2 nanocatalyst with anchor structure and hydrophilic surface for efficient hydrogenation of nitrophenol

Longlong Geng et al.

Summary: In this study, a hierarchical silicon oxide (SiO2) supported copper oxide catalyst was successfully designed, showing excellent catalytic performance in hydrogenation of nitrophenol with a conversion rate reaching 99% and high reusability for at least eight cycles. This outstanding catalytic performance is attributed to the synergy between surface-anchored structure and hydrophilic surface, promoting higher exposure of active sites and facilitating adsorption and diffusion of substrate molecules during the hydrogenation process.

Microenvironment Modulation in Metal-Organic Framework-Based Catalysis

Long Jiao et al.

Summary: The design and regulation of catalysts' microenvironment are critical for catalysis development. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have precise and tunable structures, making them an ideal platform for controlling the microenvironment surrounding catalytic sites. The unique advantages of MOFs create opportunities for enhanced catalytic performance through microenvironment modulation in heterogeneous catalysis.
