Effect of carbon on recrystallised microstructures and properties of CoCrFeMnNi-type high-entropy alloys

M. Klimova et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of carbon content on the phase composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties of thermomechanically processed CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloys. Results showed that increasing carbon content led to an increase in strength and a slight decrease in ductility. At low temperatures, the alloy with 2.0 at.% carbon demonstrated an attractive combination of mechanical properties.

Short-range ordering and its effects on mechanical properties of high-entropy alloys

Yuan Wu et al.

Summary: This letter summarizes the formation and characterization of short-range orderings (SROs) and their effects on the deformation behavior of high-entropy alloys (HEAs). It shows that tuning the degree of SROs is an effective way for optimizing the mechanical properties of HEAs. The challenges and future research activities regarding the formation mechanism and characterization of SROs in HEAs are also discussed.

Mechanical, corrosion, and wear properties of biomedical Ti-Zr-Nb-Ta-Mo high entropy alloys

Nengbin Hua et al.

Summary: The study on TixZrNbTaMo high entropy alloys revealed excellent properties in hardness, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance, with improvement in wear resistance in phosphate buffer saline solution as the titanium content decreases. The Ti0.5ZrNbTaMo alloy showed the highest corrosive wear resistance among the four HEAs due to its superior mechanical properties and chemical stability.

Simultaneously enhancing the ultimate strength and ductility of high-entropy alloys via short-range ordering

Shuai Chen et al.

Summary: The study reveals that short-range ordering in high-entropy alloys can lead to a pseudo-composite microstructure, with different types of clusters playing specific roles to enhance both strength and ductility. This provides a promising route for designing alloys with superior mechanical properties.
