Multifunctional LaF3 doped pomegranate-like porous carbon nanofibers with high-speed transfer channel and strong polar interface for high stability lithium sulfur battery

Yueyao Liang et al.

Summary: A multifunctional pomegranate-like porous carbon nanofibers with LaF3 doped (La@PCNFs) were prepared for high stability Li-S battery, exhibiting high discharge capacity and low capacity decay. The unique structure of evenly growing high graphitization carbon grains inside the macroporous carbon skeleton provides fast and hierarchical transfer channel, enriching exposed active sites, and effectively trapping lithium polysulfide during cycles. This cathode material sheds light on the development of biomimetic materials for various energy conversion and storage systems.

Stable performance of Li-S battery: Engineering of Li2S smart cathode by reduction of multilayer graphene-embedded 2D-MoS2

Joonghee Han et al.

Summary: Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are promising candidates for next-generation energy storage devices due to their high theoretical energy density, but their application is challenging due to a lack of understanding of the complex chemical reactions in a working system. A new approach of preparing graphene-based cathode materials with spatially confined lithium sulfides has been reported, which can block the escape of sulfur/sulfides from the cathode and improve the specific capacity.
