Is suicidal behaviour a stronger predictor of later suicide than suicidal ideation? A systematic review and meta-analysis

Matthew Large et al.

Summary: The study found that both suicidal ideation and suicidal behaviour are moderately associated with suicide, without conclusive evidence that suicidal behaviours are more strongly linked to suicide than suicidal ideation. Clinicians should not prioritize suicidal behavior over suicidal ideation when assessing suicide risk.

Suicide by young Australians, 2006-2015: a cross-sectional analysis of national coronial data

Nicole T. M. Hill et al.

Summary: A retrospective analysis of NCIS data was conducted to assess characteristics of young Australians who died by suicide from 2006-2015. It was found that three-quarters of the young people who died by suicide were boys or young men, and over half had diagnosed or possible mental health disorders. Targeting mental health and psychosocial stressors is crucial in preventing youth suicides.
