Synergistic effect of potassium iodide on corrosion inhibition of copper by tetraphosphonic acid in hydrochloric acid solution

Summary: The synergistic effect of KI on the corrosion inhibition efficiency of TPA on copper in 0.5M HCl was tested. The addition of 0.02M KI improved the inhibition efficiency to 98%, showing a cooperative adsorption behavior between iodide ions and TPA. The inhibition efficiency of (TPA + KI) was not dependent on temperature, and the adsorption followed Frumkin adsorption isotherm.

Enhancing the long-term anti-corrosion property of Mg alloy by quaternary phosphonium salt: Integrated experimental and theoretical approaches

Summary: The corrosion resistance of two ionic liquids, [BPP][NTf2] and [OTP][NTf2], for Mg alloys in NaCl solution was explored, with [BPP][NTf2] showing better inhibition efficiency than [OTP][NTf2]. The inhibition performance of both liquids improved after long time immersion, although [OTP][NTf2] exceeded [BPP][NTf2] after 96h immersion. Molecular dynamics simulations elucidated the key factors affecting long-term inhibition performance, leading to a proposed inhibition mechanism based on XPS results and quantum chemical calculations.

Summary: This study explored the corrosion protection effect of PTMA-based ionic liquid as an inhibitor in the acid cleaning process of metal, showing promising potential for carbon steel protection in 1 N HCl solution. The inhibition efficiency increased steadily with the concentration of the ionic liquids. SEM and AFM analysis revealed the anti-corrosion effect and lower surface roughness achieved at an optimal inhibitor concentration.
