Prediction of treatment response from the microenvironment of tumor immunity in cervical cancer patients treated with chemoradiotherapy

Masanori Someya et al.

Summary: Prognostic factors in cervical cancer management, including tumor immune microenvironments, were examined in patients treated with definitive chemoradiotherapy. Less FoxP3+ T cells and cold-type tumors were found to be poor prognostic factors. Radiotherapy may help overcome inhibitory immune microenvironments in excluded type tumors. Individualized combination therapy adapted to pre-treatment tumor immunity may be necessary for improving outcomes.

Analysis of radiotherapy-induced alteration of CD8+ T cells and PD-L1 expression in patients with uterine cervical squamous cell carcinoma

Yasumasa Mori et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in CD8(+) T-cell infiltration and PD-L1 expression following radiotherapy in patients with uterine cervical squamous cell carcinoma. CD8(+) T-cell infiltration may serve as a prognostic biomarker for patients receiving radiotherapy, while PD-L1 expression increased without significant association with survival rates. Immune checkpoint inhibitors may be effective in these patients due to the upregulation of PD-L1 expression by radiotherapy.
