Clinical and Imaging Indicators of Hemorrhagic Transformation in Acute Ischemic Stroke After Endovascular Thrombectomy

Bing Tian et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and imaging features associated with hemorrhagic transformation (HT), symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH), and parenchymal hematoma (PH) in patients with acute ischemic stroke after endovascular thrombectomy (EVT), and to examine the effects of intravenous alteplase on these risks. The results showed that alteplase treatment did not increase the risk of HT, sICH, or PH after EVT, and the predictors of sICH were different in different treatment groups.

Summary: Despite early thrombectomy, a considerable number of acute stroke patients with large vessel occlusion still have poor outcomes. Although well reported in animal models, the no-reflow phenomenon is still poorly characterized in humans.
