Summary: In this paper, the interactions between a deflected submerged jet and the above interface of a liquid pool were experimentally investigated. The presence of an additional lighter liquid layer was found to significantly stabilize the oscillations of the submerged jet but increase the concentration of kinetic energy, enstrophy, and velocity fluctuations near the interface.

Toward a fully resolved volume of fluid simulation of the phase inversion problem

Summary: This paper presents an enstrophy-resolved simulation of the phase inversion problem using the volume of fluid (VOF) method. By proposing a new converging configuration with reduced Reynolds and Weber numbers, the study successfully achieves grid convergence for enstrophy in the simulation. The findings suggest that enstrophy always converges for moderate Reynolds and Weber numbers, while the convergence of the total interfacial area is sensitive to the choice of initial and wall boundary conditions.
