Evaluation of protective effects of GnRH agonist or antagonist on ovarian reserve with anti-M?llerian hormone and histological analysis in a rat model using cisplatin

Mustafa Tas et al.

Summary: This study evaluated ovarian reserve using anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) as the best predictor, and conducted histological analysis after cisplatin exposure with a GnRH agonist or antagonist. The results showed that ovarian reserve and AMH levels were significantly increased in the GnRH agonist and antagonist groups compared to the control group. This is the first prospective randomized controlled study to demonstrate the protective effects of GnRH agonist and antagonist on ovarian reserve after cisplatin exposure in an animal model.

Is Anti-Mullerian Hormone a Marker of Ovarian Reserve in Young Breast Cancer Patients Receiving a GnRH Analog during Chemotherapy?

Rosalba Torrisi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of concurrent administration of triptorelin and adjuvant chemotherapy on AMH levels during cancer treatment. Although AMH decreased to nearly undetectable levels after chemotherapy, some patients were able to recover to levels above the threshold with triptorelin.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Anti-Mullerian hormone levels among contraceptive users: evidence from a cross-sectional cohort of 27,125 individuals

Eduardo Hariton et al.

Summary: Current use of hormonal contraceptives is associated with lower mean anti-Mullerian hormone levels compared to women not using contraceptives, with variability in the percent difference across contraceptive methods. These data provide guidance for clinicians on how to interpret anti-Mullerian hormone levels assessed while on contraceptives and may encourage more patients to continue contraceptive use while being evaluated for their ovarian reserve.
