Sudden death in individuals with obstructive sleep apnoea: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Emily S. Heilbrunn et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis examined the risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in individuals with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and found that OSA is associated with increased risk of both types of mortality, with a dose-response relationship observed between the severity of OSA and the risk of death. Additional analysis revealed that older age was a significant contributing factor in the relationship between OSA and mortality, highlighting the need for prevention and treatment strategies to optimize survival and quality of life in individuals with OSA.
