Whole-genome characterization of chronological age-associated changes in methylome and circular RNAs in moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) from vegetative to floral growth

Zeyu Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that CHH methylation gradually accumulates during the transition from vegetative to reproductive growth in moso bamboo, with differentially methylated regions mainly occurring at transcription start and termination sites. Genes with CG methylation changes are enriched in 'vegetative to reproductive phase transition of meristem' GO categories, while circRNA flanking introns are hypermethylated and enriched in LTR retrotransposons.

The SOC1-like gene BoMADS50 is associated with the flowering of Bambusa oldhamii

Dan Hou et al.

Summary: The study on the molecular mechanism of bamboo flowering characteristics revealed that the BoMADS50 gene plays a crucial role in the flowering process of Bambusa oldhamii, interacting with other related genes to regulate flowering. The functional conservatism and specificity of BoMADS50 may be associated with the synchronized and sporadic flowering characteristics of B. oldhamii.
