Biofunctionalized fibrin gel co-embedded with BMSCs and VEGF for accelerating skin injury repair

Jianying Tan et al.

Summary: This study constructed a three-dimensional fibrin gel with epithelial cell compatibility using thrombin and fibrinogen under the cross-linking action of calcium ion. The results showed that the fibrin gel promoted the adhesion and proliferation of endothelial cells (EC) and smooth muscle cells (SMC) effectively, and BMSC embedded in the hydrogel differentiated into EC. The fibrin gel containing BMSC was found to promote wound healing and repair in a rat skin wound experiment, indicating potential for neovascularization at the injured site.

Tailoring the assembly of collagen fibers in alginate microspheres

Sarah Lehnert et al.

Summary: The use of microspheres in cell-laden biomaterials offers advantages such as high surface-to-volume ratio, but the assembly of collagen fibers in alginate matrix requires further investigation. Addition of small polar molecules and careful selection of gelling buffer can aid the assembly process in gelled alginate matrix.

A junctional PACSIN2/EHD4/MICAL-L1 complex coordinates VE-cadherin trafficking for endothelial migration and angiogenesis

Tsveta S. Malinova et al.

Summary: The study reveals that PACSIN2 guides collective cell migration and angiogenesis by recruiting a protein trafficking complex to asymmetric cell-cell junctions, controlling local junction plasticity. This coordinated mechanism helps in directing polarized endothelial migration and promoting vascular development during angiogenesis.

Cellular Mechanisms of FGF-Stimulated Tissue Repair

Igor Prudovsky

Summary: FGF family growth factors are crucial in tissue and organ repair after trauma, regulating various aspects of cellular behavior to facilitate reparative processes. Specifically, FGFs play a key role in controlling cell proliferation, stemness, de-differentiation, inflammation, angiogenesis, senescence, cell death, and protease production. Additionally, enhancing FGF expression and secretion in damaged tissues can increase the supply of FGF required for tissue repair.

Marjan Karimi et al.

Summary: Stem cell therapy aims to replace damaged cells with healthy cells. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have low survival rate following transplantation, so protecting MSCs from cell death is valuable. Nisin has antimicrobial activity and can effectively increase cellular resistance and survival. Nisin also increases anti-inflammation factors which help in cell repair and differentiation.
