Identification of monocyte-associated genes as predictive biomarkers of heart failure after acute myocardial infarction

Qixin Chen et al.

Summary: This study identified 827 hub genes associated with post-AMI HF in PBMCs using weighted gene co-expression network analysis. By combining single-cell RNA-sequencing data and bulk RNA-sequencing data, 25 common genes related to inflammation and collagen metabolism were discovered, with CUX1, CTSD, and ADD3 showing consistent changes in three independent studies. These findings provided three monocyte-related biomarkers for the early prediction of HF development after AMI and potential therapeutic targets.

Proteomics applications in biomarker discovery and pathogenesis for abdominal aortic aneurysm

Jianqiang Wu et al.

Summary: Proteomics has been used to identify potential biomarkers, understand pathogenic mechanisms, and discover therapeutic targets for AAA. However, validation in multicenter cohorts is needed for promising biomarkers to accelerate their clinical application. The development of mass spectrometry technology, modification-specific proteomics, and multi-omics research will enhance our understanding of AAA pathogenesis and facilitate biomarker discovery and drug development for clinical translation.

Proteomics Profiling of the Urine of Patients with Hyperthyroidism after Anti-Thyroid Treatment

Hicham Benabdelkamel et al.

Summary: This study characterized the urinary proteome of patients with hyperthyroidism using an untargeted proteomic approach, revealing differences in protein abundance before and after treatment. The identified proteins are involved in regulating cellular metabolism, transport, and acute phase response processes. Bioinformatic analysis indicated dysregulation of pathways associated with cellular compromise, inflammatory response, and identified central nodes such as the APP and AKT signaling pathways.

Molecular mapping of platelet hyperreactivity in diabetes: the stress proteins complex HSPA8/Hsp90/CSK2α and platelet aggregation in diabetic and normal platelets

Gemma Chiva-Blanch et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the differences in platelets between diabetic patients and nondiabetic controls, revealing changes in platelet aggregation, cell migration, and cell homeostasis proteins. Platelets from diabetic subjects showed higher aggregation tendencies and higher levels of the stress-related protein complex HSPA8/Hsp90/CSK2a. The findings suggest that the complex HSPA8/Hsp90/CSK2a plays a role in diabetes-related platelet hyperreactivity and could be a potential target for future preventive and therapeutic strategies for platelet dysfunction in diabetes.

Two Dimensional-Difference in Gel Electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) Proteomic Approach for the Identification of Biomarkers in Endometrial Cancer Serum

Blendi Ura et al.

Summary: Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecologic malignancy, and identifying serum biomarkers for its early diagnosis is crucial. This study compared serum proteins of endometrial cancer patients and non-cancer subjects, identifying 16 proteins with diagnostic potential. A mathematical model based on CLU, ITIH4, SERPINC1, and C1RL showed excellent sensitivity and specificity in detecting cancer samples, supporting its potential as a diagnostic tool in clinical settings.
