The findings open up new opportunities for bio-based and green anti-aging systems in polymer technology.

Development and Characterization of Bioactive Poly(butylene-succinate) Films Modified with Quercetin for Food Packaging Applications

Summary: The fabrication and characterization of PBS films enriched with the natural polyphenolic antioxidant-quercetin were reported in this study. The addition of quercetin led to significant changes in color, opacity, and UV-blocking effect of the films, while the mechanical properties slightly decreased. The PBS-quercetin films exhibited excellent antioxidant and bactericidal activities, showing potential for active food packaging applications.
