Analytical solution of the steady-state atmospheric fractional diffusion equation in a finite domain

Tankou Tagne Alain Sylvain et al.

Summary: The authors investigated an analytical solution for the steady-state fractional advection-diffusion equation to simulate air pollutants dispersion in a finite media. They proposed a method using classic integral transform technique (CITT) to solve the transformed problem with a fractional derivative, and compared the solutions with experimental data, demonstrating good agreement with literature results. This study indicates that fractional equations have become a mature tool for describing anomalous transport processes.

Pressure drop in a prototypical 3D magnetohydrodynamic flow across contraction of a fusion blanket manifold

Tyler Rhodes et al.

Summary: This study investigates the applicability of correlations for predicting pressure drops in electrically insulated inlet manifolds to outlet manifolds with sudden contractions. Numerical computations show that the MHD pressure drops in flows with contractions are almost identical to those in flows featuring expansion, with slightly higher magnitudes in the contraction cases. The small discrepancy (<8%) suggests that correlations for 3D MHD pressure drops in flows with sudden expansions can also be applied to flows with sudden contractions.

Influence of a background magnetic field on a 2D magnetohydrodynamic flow

Wen Feng et al.

Summary: This paper mathematically establishes the observation that background magnetic fields stabilize electrically conducting fluids in a 2D magnetohydrodynamic system. The velocity field is shown to stabilize and decay in time under the influence of a background magnetic field. The system is reduced to a system of degenerate and damped wave equations, with perturbations near a background magnetic field remaining asymptotically stable.

Boundary layer flow with forced convective heat transfer and viscous dissipation past a porous rotating disk

Kushal Sharma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the Coriolis effect with forced convective heat transfer on steady ferrohydrodynamic flow past a rotating porous disk in the presence of viscous dissipation. The findings show that the heat transfer rate and thermal boundary layer thickness increase due to the higher value of the dissipation parameter.

Numerical study of the magnetohydrodynamic flow instability and its effect on energy conversion in the annular linear induction pump

Ruijie Zhao et al.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of the magnetic-fluid coupling effect on annular linear induction pumps, finding that it can amplify disturbances in the flow and affect flow stability. The significant Ohmic dissipation in the fluid is identified as the main reason for the low efficiency of the pumps.

EXPERIMENTAL AND CFD ANALYSIS OF MHD FLOW AROUND SMOOTH SPHERE AND SPHERE WITH DIMPLES IN SUBCRITICAL AND CRITICAL REGIMES

Jasmina B. Bogdanovic-Jovanovic et al.

Summary: The paper presents an overview of previous research related to flow around a bluff-body, using experimental and numerical methods. The experimental investigation was performed with a laser doppler anemometer, while numerical simulations were carried out using ANSYS-CFX software. The results of experiments and simulations were compared, showing good agreement in flow characteristics around smooth sphere and sphere with dimples.

Hydromagnetic boundary layer flow with heat transfer past a rotating disc embedded in a porous medium

Kushal Sharma et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of Coriolis force and Darcy parameter on time-dependent forced convective boundary layer flow over a rotating disc in a porous medium have been analyzed. The study observed the significant impact of rheological properties of conducting fluids such as water, hydrocarbon, and kerosene on the deviation of parameters, which were further analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively with the help of graphs and tables.

Magnetohydrodynamic flow of viscous fluid between two parallel porous plates with bottom injection and top suction

S. Ganesh et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the steady laminar flow of an electrically conducting viscous incompressible fluid between two parallel porous plates in the presence of a transverse magnetic field, with bottom injection and top suction. The vertical velocity is constant throughout the flow field, and solutions for small and large Reynolds numbers are considered, along with a velocity profile graph.
