Physicochemical structure characteristics and combustion kinetics of low-rank coal by hydrothermal carbonization

Nan Zhang et al.

Summary: Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) treatment of low-rank coal can increase calorific value, decrease ash content, improve structural characteristics, and make coal properties closer to bituminous coal with medium metamorphic degree. Furthermore, combustion characteristics are enhanced, burnout time is shortened, and the combustion curve shifts towards the high temperature zone.
