Ionic Liquid Vapors in Vacuum: Possibility to Derive Anodic Stabilities from DFT and UPS

Summary: UPS investigations of gas-phase ionic liquid ion pairs were conducted and vapor UPS spectra for several IL ion pairs were presented for the first time. Experimental and theoretical data were used to interpret the electronic properties of the ionic liquids, with the hybrid M06 functional showing good agreement with the experimental spectra. This study provides valuable reference data for future calculations and discusses implications for electrochemical applications.
