Urine analysis using FTIR spectroscopy: A study on healthy adults and children

Neslihan Sarigul et al.

Summary: The study of urine spectra from 108 healthy volunteers using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy revealed that young adults exhibit the greatest spectral variations, while children have the least. Older individuals show a higher variance in phosphate excretion. Females consistently exhibit slightly higher citrate content regardless of age.

Detection of bloodstains using attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy supported with PCA and PCA-LDA

Sweety Sharma et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the potential application of ATR-FTIR spectroscopy for non-destructive identification of blood traces in forensic cases. Using chemometric techniques such as PCA-LDA, accurate classification of blood and non-blood substances was achieved with 100% accuracy. This research addresses limitations in current forensic techniques and offers a promising avenue for future analysis.

Forensic examination of thermal papers using Video Spectral Comparator (VSC) and ATR-FTIR spectroscopy coupled with chemometrics: Non-destructive approach

Anjali Tomar et al.

Summary: This study examines thermal papers using non-destructive methods such as ATR-FTIR spectroscopy and Video Spectral Comparator (VSC), showing high discriminating power through qualitative and quantitative analysis. Multivariate analysis using HCA and PCA demonstrates the effectiveness of the study, which also analyzes the impact of different storage conditions on the fading rate of thermal papers.
