Hydrolysis of NH3BH3 and NaBH4 by graphene quantum dots-transition metal nanoparticles for highly effective hydrogen evolution

Jialu Shen et al.

Summary: Recently, graphene quantum dots-transition metal nanoparticles (GQDs-TMNPs) have been successfully applied in the hydrolysis of NH3BH3 (AB) and NaBH4, showing high dispersibility and activity. GQDs-RhNPs, GQDs-RuNPs, and GQDs-PtNPs demonstrate high catalytic activity in the hydrolysis of AB, with turnover frequencies (TOFs) reaching up to 656, 384, and 281 mol(H2)center dot mol(cat)(-1) min(-1), respectively.

Shaggy-like Ru-clusters decorated core-shell metal-organic framework-derived CoOx@NPC as high-efficiency catalyst for NaBH4 hydrolysis

Shasha Dou et al.

Summary: The study reports a controllable method of preparing a low Ru loaded, N-doped porous carbon embedded with cobalt oxide species catalyst using core-shell metal-organic framework as a template. The optimized catalyst shows a highly efficient and stable performance of H-2 production, with fast generation rate and reusability. The excellent catalytic performance is attributed to the large specific surface area and synergy between Co-oxide and Ru clusters.

Nanocrystalline cobalt-nickel-boron (metal boride) catalysts for efficient hydrogen production from the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride

Aybike Paksoy et al.

Summary: Innovative metal boride nanocatalysts containing crystalline Co-Ni based binary/ternary boride phases were synthesized and used in the hydrolysis of NaBH4. The composite catalysts showed better catalytic performance compared to their single components, particularly the CoB-Ni4B3 phase. The results suggest that these composite structures can be used as alternative and stable catalysts for efficient hydrogen production from sodium borohydride.
