Transient reaction phenomena of sorption-enhanced steam methane reforming in a fixed-bed reactor

Wen-Jenn Sheu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the transient chemical reaction phenomena of sorption-enhanced steam methane reforming (SE-SMR) using Ni/Al2O3 catalyst and CaO sorbent. The results show that CO2 sorption reaction significantly enhances the rates of steam reforming and water gas shift reactions, leading to the production of high-purity H2.

A comprehensive review of hydrogen production from methanol thermochemical conversion for sustainability

Gabriel Garcia et al.

Summary: This review discusses various methods of hydrogen production from methanol, with a focus on catalyst development and reactor technology. Copper-based catalysts are popular due to their high activity and selectivity but have stability issues, leading to exploration of other metals like zinc and chromium. Novel reactor structures such as porous copper fiber sintered-felt and membrane reactors have been explored for improved efficiency and energy savings.

The Effects of Promoter Cs Loading on the Hydrogen Production from Ammonia Decomposition Using Ru/C Catalyst in a Fixed-Bed Reactor

Yen-Ling Chen et al.

Summary: The study on hydrogen production from ammonia decomposition on commercial 5 wt.% Ru/C catalyst revealed that the ammonia conversion increased with increasing Cs/Ru molar ratio and reached a maximum at 4.5. However, the conversion rapidly decreased with further increase in Cs/Ru molar ratio, dropping even below that of pure Ru/C at a ratio of 6. The Cs promotion effect was attributed to hot ring promotion at lower Cs/Ru molar ratios, while the mechanisms for Cs effects on ammonia conversion at higher Cs/Ru molar ratios were discussed. At optimal Cs loading, ammonia conversions at 400°C were near 100% for gas hourly space velocities ranging from 48,257 to 241,287 mL/(h center dot g(cat)).
