Flame propagation of premixed hydrogen-air explosion in a closed duct with obstacles

Yi Qin et al.

Summary: This paper conducts a numerical study of flame propagation during hydrogen explosion in a closed duct with obstacles, showing that the flame speed is proportional to the number of obstacles, and the flame undergoes different stages of evolution during the explosion process.

Pressure release characteristics of premixed hydrogen-air mixtures in an explosion venting device with a duct

Weiguo Cao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the basic characteristics of explosion pressure during hydrogen explosion venting, focusing on the effects of cracking pressure and duct length. When comparing the results with and without a duct, it was found that the presence of the duct reduced the efficiency of explosion venting. The study also evaluated the applicability of the NFPA 68 standard for safety design in over-scope measurements.

Effects of mesh aluminium alloy and aluminium velvet on the explosion of H2/air, CH4/air and C2H2/air mixtures

Shangyong Zhou et al.

Summary: The study shows that MAA and AV have dual effects of promoting and suppressing explosions, with the properties of flammable gases determining whether the dominant effect is promotion or suppression. Blindly using explosion suppression materials may greatly increase safety risks.

Dust cloud explosion characteristics and mechanisms in MgH2-based hydrogen storage materials

Yun-Ting Tsai et al.

Summary: The study found that adding trace amounts of H-2 in Mg explosions can significantly increase explosion severity, while also weakening the impact of oxygen deficiency. Moreover, the explosion intensity of synthetic MgH2 was much stronger than premixed Mg/H-2 mixture or Mg alone due to the formation of vacancy defects in Mg and H atoms after dehydrogenation.

Experimental investigation on the dynamic responses of vented hydrogen explosion in a 40-foot container

Teng-Teng Hao et al.

Summary: This study conducted 48 field tests on a 40-foot container to investigate the effects of hydrogen concentration, ignition position, and obstacles on structural dynamics. Three main displacement stages were identified, and different types of structural acceleration were observed.
