Z-scheme photocatalyst Pt/GaP-TiO2-SiO2:Rh for the separated H2 evolution from photocatalytic seawater splitting

Han Van Dang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the high photoactivity of the Z-scheme photocatalyst PGTSR for splitting pure water and artificial seawater, achieving significant hydrogen/oxygen evolution rates without sacrificial agents under simulated sunlight. The separated H-2 evolution from O-2 through the photocatalytic artificial seawater splitting in a twin photoreactor also showed promising results.

Tunable charge transfer efficiency in HxMoO3@ZnIn2S4 hierarchical direct Z-scheme heterojunction toward efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution

Fangshu Xing et al.

Summary: Hierarchical direct Z-scheme composites of ultrathin ZnIn2S4 nanosheets on HxMoO3 nanobelts exhibit significantly higher H-2-production activity than pristine ZnIn2S4. The high conductivity and tunable charge transfer efficiency of the HxMoO3 component contribute to the effective transport of charge carriers. The hierarchical architecture increases intimate interface for effective separation of electron-hole pairs and exposes more reactive sites.

Rational manipulation of lattice strain to tailor the electronic and optical properties of nanostructures

Ruishi Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, a simple and effective scheme was designed to fabricate strained BiVO4/ZnS nanostructures, leading to noticeable increases in band gap energies under tensile strain and tunable dual emission behavior. Experimental results also confirmed that lattice strain significantly changes the electron band structure of the nanostructures.
