Controlling cation migration and inter-diffusion across cathode/interlayer/ electrolyte interfaces of solid oxide fuel cells: A review

Muhammad Zubair Khan et al.

Summary: Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are a potential way to achieve efficient and clean electrochemical energy conversion, but commercialization is hindered by material degradation, especially at the cathode-electrolyte interface. Understanding cation migration and interdiffusion is crucial for improving SOFC durability, with perovskite-based oxides showing promising results. Control measures for interdiffusion in the cathode/electrolyte/interlayer are key to designing highly efficient and stable SOFCs.

Measuring the Contact Angles of Powders by the Sessile Drop Method

V. E. Danilov et al.

Summary: The time it takes to establish a critical contact angle on the surface of a pressed polycrystalline quartz powder sample with different liquids is primarily determined by the viscosity of the liquid. It is necessary to record the moment when the diameter of the base of a liquid droplet on the powder sample's surface reaches its maximum value in order to determine the critical contact angle of powder materials.

Role of polymeric calcium-alginate particles to enhance the performance capabilities of composite membranes for water vapor separation

Yogita M. Shirke et al.

Summary: The synthesis of polymeric calcium-alginate (CA) particles with an egg box structure enhances the performance of thin film composite (TFC) membranes for water vapor separation. These particles have various hydrophilic groups, absorb water vapor rapidly, are low-cost, readily available, and biocompatible. Adding 0.1 wt% CA particles to a TFC membrane can significantly improve water vapor permeance and selectivity.
