Drop-in performance of the low-GWP alternative refrigerants R452B and R454B in an R410A liquid-to-water heat pump

Jaime Sieres et al.

Summary: This study investigates the performance of refrigerants R452B and R454B as drop-in replacements for R410A in a heat pump system, finding that the lower-GWP alternatives offer advantages in terms of higher discharge temperatures, lower heating and compression powers compared to R410A.

Nucleate boiling heat transfer of R-134a and R-134a/POE lubricant mixtures on smooth tube

Abhishek Kumar et al.

Summary: The addition of polyolester lubricant oil significantly enhances the nucleate pool boiling performance for a horizontal smooth tube at different saturation temperatures. Specifically, POEA-68 lubricant shows a more pronounced effect on increasing HTC, while the variation of lubricant mass fraction leads to different impacts on HTC.

Effects of lubricant on evaporation and boiling processes of R1234ze(E): A molecular dynamics study

Shouyin Cai et al.

Summary: This study uses molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the effects of PEC4 on the evaporation and boiling processes of R1234ze(E). It is found that PEC4 suppresses the evaporation and boiling processes of R1234ze(E) and forms an oil film to weaken the heat transfer capacity at the fluid-solid interface. The increase of PEC4 mass fraction leads to higher temperature jump and thermal resistance length, indicating a reduction in heat transfer capacity.
