Robot-assisted surgery for women with endometrial cancer: Surgical and oncologic outcomes within a Belgium gynaecological oncology group cohort

A. Kakkos et al.

Summary: Robot-assisted surgery for endometrial cancer showed favorable surgical and oncologic outcomes, with low conversion to laparotomy rate and perioperative complications. Age and BMI did not significantly impact the surgical outcomes.

Adjuvant therapy for endometrial cancer in the era of molecular classification: radiotherapy, chemoradiation and novel targets for therapy

Anne Sophie V. M. van den Heerik et al.

Summary: Endometrial cancer is primarily treated with surgery, with adjuvant treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy being considered based on clinico-pathological risk factors. Recent studies have shown the effectiveness of different treatment strategies for different risk levels of endometrial cancer, highlighting the importance of personalized treatment approaches. Molecular classification and targeted treatments are emerging as potential advancements in the field, with ongoing trials exploring their impact on patient outcomes.

ESGO/ESTRO/ESP guidelines for the management of patients with endometrial carcinoma

Nicole Concin et al.

Summary: The European consensus conference on endometrial carcinoma in 2014 aimed to produce multi-disciplinary evidence-based guidelines. Since then, the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), and the European Society of Pathology (ESP) have decided to update the guidelines and cover new topics to improve care for women with endometrial carcinoma globally.

Long-Term Toxicity and Health-Related Quality of Life After Adjuvant Chemoradiation Therapy or Radiation Therapy Alone for High-Risk Endometrial Cancer in the Randomized PORTEC-3 Trial

Cathalijne C. B. Post et al.

Summary: The study compared long-term adverse events and health-related quality of life between chemoradiation therapy and radiation therapy alone in high-risk endometrial cancer patients. Results showed that the chemoradiation therapy group had more patients with grade ≥ 2 adverse events at 5 years, and persistent sensory neuropathy toxicity led to more patients reporting significant tingling or numbness in HRQOL. Physical and role functioning impairments were seen up to 3 years in the chemoradiation therapy group.

Prevalence and Prognosis of Lynch Syndrome and Sporadic Mismatch Repair Deficiency in Endometrial Cancer

Cathalijne C. B. Post et al.

Summary: The prevalence of Lynch syndrome (LS) in the endometrial cancer population was found to be 2.8%, with 9.5% of MMRd-EC cases being associated with LS. Patients with LS-associated ECs showed a trend towards better recurrence-free survival but had a higher risk for second cancers compared to patients with MLH1-hypermethylated MMRd-EC.

Immunohistochemical biomarkers are prognostic relevant in addition to the ESMO-ESGO-ESTRO risk classification in endometrial cancer

S. W. Vrede et al.

Summary: The study revealed that pre-operative IHC biomarkers in endometrial cancer patients are associated with higher risk classification and could predict the worst outcome when combined, with abnormal expression of p53/L1CAM/ER/PR significantly related to disease-specific survival in the high and advanced/metastatic risk group.
